ʻĀina in virtual spaces; Kaʻala Farm in Virtual Reality.

In 2021, we were approached by PALS to produce a virtual huakaʻi of Kaʻala Farms. At the time, haumāna were not able to go to this wahi pana because of Covid restrictions.

Seen through the eyes of wise storytellers from a future eco-centric and thriving Pasifika, VR Kaʻala asks: What will it be like to look back on this time a thousand years from now? You are a future navigator.

An 18 minute, 360 immersive journey into the moʻolelo (story) and wahi pana (beloved place) of Kaʻala Farm featuring the stewards and ʻohana (family) of Waiʻanae, Hawaiʻi.  From a blend of 360 photography, illustration and narrative story over 8 chapters, we ask: How do you show aloha to your people, place and yourself during times of trial and joy?
